Paul Baines

Paul Baines holds bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees from Manchester School of Management at UMIST (now The University of Manchester) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from Middlesex Universit y. Paul is presently Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Cranfield School of Management and Course Director, MSc Strategic Marketing. He is author/co-author of more than eighty published articles, book chapters and books on marketing issues, particularly in mass consumer services environments, including politics, higher education and sport. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and a member of the Market Research Society (MRS), the Institute of Directors and the Political Studies Association. He is a Chief Examiner on the MRS Diploma in Market and Social Research Practice. Over the last ten years, Paul’s research has particularly focused on the application of market research and strategic marketing by political and corporate organisations in a political context.Paul is co-editor and co-author of numerous books, including: with Bal Chansarkar of ‘Introduction to Marketing Research’ (MU Press, 1999); ‘Contemporary Strategic Marketing’ with Ross Brennan, Paul Garneau (and Lynn Vos) (Palgrave Press, 2002, 2008); with Bal Chansarkar, of ‘Introducing Marketing Research’ (John Wiley & Sons, 2002.); with John Egan and Frank Jefkins of ‘Public Relations’ (Butterworth-Heinemann, 2004); with Sir Robert Worcester and Roger Mortimore of ‘Explaining Labour’s Landslip’ (Politicos, 2005) and with Chris Fill and Kelly Page, ‘Marketing’ launched in March 2008 (Oxford University Press, 2008). Paul’s marketing research consultancy experience includes marketing research and strategy development projects for a variety of large organisations. He was a board director of the sub-regional development agency, North London Limited from November 2006-April 2008.  Paul was listed in Who’sWho Business Elite 2008.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys reading non-fiction, swimming, film and theatre, and travelling. 

Ning Baines

Ning Baines holds a bachelors degree in English Literature from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok , and masters degrees in marketing (Middlesex) and e-business and innovation (Birkbeck, University of London ). She started her business career in the financial services sector, working for Standard Chartered Bank, before shifting to education and cultural marketing for the British Council in Thailand for eight years, where she worked in a variety of roles ranging from education promotion officer to assistant director of marketing. In her last role, her responsibilities included developing strategic direction for the marketing function of the British Council in Thailand , including budget setting, and planning, and the development of marketing intelligence and information systems.

She currently works on a fractional employment basis for University College London as a marketing/business development officer.

In her spare time, Ning spends her time meditating, reading and cooking.
